Hey Amit how goes it! The important point to keep in mind is that Alex' mailing did not go out until yesterday or today. So everyone still has a couple of days to trade on his buy recommendation before it is really public. His web site counter shows just 993 hits, and his site has been up for several months now. Another point from a timing point of view is that they are due to announce 4th quarter earnings and, more importantly, year-end reserves figures, on the week of 3/17 or the following week at the latest. As you are so w well aware (from being a long-time fan) they hit a ton of wells in '96 so their reserves are going to jump hugely vs. 12/31/95. So as the days go by this leaves less and less time to build a position in this before the blockbuster news comes out. My understanding of the general plan after that is to let the stock settle back down again and then come out with buy rec.'s from Oppenheimer and Raymond James.
