Today...

As the industry recently marked the third anniversary of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, incumbent local exchange carrier compliance with the act and litigation over the interpretation of this landmark legislation continue to dominate the landscape. Still, ICG Communications is expanding its footprint as a leading integrated communications provider (ICP) in California, Colorado, Ohio, Texas and the southeastern United States.

ICG continues to offer high-quality telecommunications services, including local, long-distance and enhanced telephony, and data services to small and medium-sized businesses. At the end of 1998, ICG had 354,482 local dial tone lines in service and was connected to 5,397 buildings. It had 4,255 operational fiber route miles, with another 625 under construction, 28 voice switches and 16 data switches.

The company also provides high-speed network services to Internet service providers (ISPs) using its nationwide data network, with 236 points of presence (POPs). ICG is offering new, state-of-the-art services to ISPs, including modemless Remote Access Services (RAS), Expanded Originating Service (EOS), and Digital Subscriber Line (DSL).
