You have been a member of SI for some 5 months. I have been around since Dec. 96. Length of time on this board does not really mean anything except it does give a good perspective as to who the good guys are and who are the hypesters.

I am not implying that you are not a good guy nor a hypster only that it appears to me that you have not really seen a lot of these real hypsters and people that pick a fight for no reason at all.

FWIW, Linda and Dale(especially Dale as I have seem his posts on many threads and for a longer time period than Linda) deal in available information mixed with a good deal of their DD, common sense and knowledge of either the market or their professional knowledge.

They only push back when pushed and I have not known of either of them to pick a fight or hype some information without a good basis.

So to answer your question, "What motivates these people," IMO, good old fashioned common sense and it is why I take their advice to start my own DD.

I might also add that people who use their real names IMO add a lot to their creditability.
