Paul, the K6-III 450 MHz is faster than the Pentium III 500 MHz if all of the following is true:

1) You're running Windows 98 as opposed to NT

2) The only programs you'll ever use are Microsoft Office, Netscape, and Internet Explorer

The funny thing is, I thought if these two conditions were true, you wouldn't NEED anything more than a K6-2 or Celeron.
