Jean, you have a good memory. IBM has been piloting its "Fastgate" credit card/biometric system in Bermuda and a few other places. Because the system probably uses a 'per click' fee billed via the credit card, it can be pretty profitable on a mass scale. We didn't think that IDX had the biometrics, but I don't know about IDT.

IDT has provided GSA with its biometric template -- also old news -- which is some reason to believe that the IBM/Siemens announcement means another deal for IDT.

On another subject, I had posted earlier whether Gemplus was allied with American Biometric Company and Entrust. However, it was Schlumberger and ABC and Entrust in an alliance combining smart cards and digital certificates. I wouldn't be too surprised to see a similar alliance develop between IDX and Verisign and Gemplus, each number one in their area.

Schlumberger will work with anyone, though. They are in the O'Hare deal, and I recently saw an announcement that they have a tie-in to Compaq.

Interesting but predicted action in the stock today, with a lot of stock being offered at $11.75 or $11.875. At the end of the day a $11.75 ask showed up with 30,000 share on offer -- so we haven't burned through the overhang yet.
