Jack -
The statements by the interim CEO team have been pretty consistent, an experienced manager who has run a large global business, and understands the complex logistics of a company like CPQ. I expect a "name brand" candidate of the caliber of Michael Armstrong or Ray Lane.

There is just not much traction at CPQ to shift heavily into a direct model for PCs - the channel announcement today points to their direction. PCs in general are not a major thrust for CPQ going forward.

Don't expect these guys to do anything stupid - just the opposite. My personal view is that CPQ will have an "office of the CEO" headed by a strong and charismatic leader from outside CPQ, who will keep his focus on the customers, partners and the analyst community. The insiders would probably be operations (i.e. Ed Straw) and products (maybe John Rose??) forming the inside of the CEO team.
