What makes you think Ciena will be brought up in the Cisco call? I've followed Cisco, and those rumors have been dead for some time. Not to revive the rumors or anything but it did strike me as odd that Cisco recently announced a deal in the Washington DC area and said that they would leave the acquiree in place there. That's contrary to their usual modus operandi of buying and moving the operations of the acquiree. It's also against the stated goal of buying only companies that are nearby to Silicon Valley. Wouldn't it be nice to snarf up Ciena and combine all the operations in some kind of Cisco-East in Maryland? Doughboy.
