My original position was that he should've just fessed up to the allegations, if true, instead of trying to cover them up. The worst he would've been out would have been 3 years salary for a lowly state employee plus court costs. He would've been in a better position, financially, morally, legally, and just about every which way. Even most of his critics would've just dropped the issue after that. He lucked into parlaying that ordeal into a 65 percent poll rating but seriously damaged his ability to lead.
