Mr. Chaplin will also work closely with the Wave team to facilitate the Wave E-commerce System and it's EMBASSY(TM) technology as an empowering tool for consumers to try interactive products before they buy and address concerns such as piracy, security and parental control applications. Steven Sprague, president of Wave Systems, said, "Alan brings an enormous amount of passion and credibility to our content delivery business. He understands the issues entertainment and educational content developers face relevant to the changing distribution paradigm brought on by the Internet. Alan will be invaluable to our plans to offer the interactive entertainment industry dynamic new distribution models that take advantage of this changing environment." Wave's EMBASSY is the first implementation of the trusted-client technology that will allow third-party software vendors to develop secure PC-based, e-commerce applications to run in a trusted environment. With the development of the Wave E-commerce System, the interactive software community can benefit from a new distribution platform, flexible pricing models and security inherent in trusted-client technology. Consumers utilizing the Wave E-commerce System will be able to quickly and conveniently purchase, pay-per-use or rent-to-own top entertainment, education and software titles directly from end-user devices. It is an open, programmable, standards-based platform for running secure applications and protecting important data and digital identities on individual PCs and other end user devices. Mr. Chaplin, who will be speaking about emerging new gaming platforms at the E3 Convention in Los Angeles May 13 at 4:30 PM for session 4.4 of the show program, believes that the future of interactive content distribution will center on empowering consumers with new usage and purchase models. "The Internet is changing traditional distribution models at an unbelievable rate," said Mr. Chaplin. "Consumers are now able to sample and purchase products from their desktop, at the best price, directly from publishers and developers. Wave is the first company to approach the content distribution and purchase equation from the perspective of the end-user. Wave's technology empowers both consumers and publishers to establish a direct relationship with each other, building new distribution models and extended brand loyalty for our partners." The Wave E-commerce System benefits consumers by offering new usage and purchase options while providing unparalleled security, performing transaction at the point of origin--the end-user's PC or peripheral device. For the first time, the content community can distribute interactive "WaveEnabled" media for consumers to try before they buy, with full copy protection for publishers. Mr. Chaplin is an interactive industry veteran of 18 years with traditional consumer packaged goods experience from Johnson & Johnson and Polaroid. Throughout his career, he has managed strategic relationships, orchestrated company to company negotiations, consummated agreements, as well as directing sales efforts with the nation's leading retailers, honored as "Vendor of the Year" by Toys "R Us. He is currently serving as Senior Advisor to the E3 Conference program. With a co-founder of E3 as our new VP, I wonder if we will get much exposure at this week's show? I wonder if the "big boys" of the industry are wondering if we are mainstream? I wonder if institutions will think that we might be exhibiting both paradigm shift- and staying-power- tendencies?
I wonder what the next announcement is? (IMHO that these are still warm-ups).
