I hate to be snobbish and elitist, you know me, but sometimes it is just necessary. Cuervo Gold is nice, don't get me wrong, but what you really want is tequila made with 100% blue agave. In Spanish, agave azul. You can pay quite a lot of money for 100% blue agave tequila that is estate-made (estancia), but Cuervo does make it, too, and it's only about $20 a bottle here. It would be a couple of bucks cheaper in, say, Washington, D.C., the liquor taxes are lower, I think, and the liquor stores are privately owned. Try it, it's much smoother, and won't give such a nasty hangover.
Curacao is nice, so is Grand Marnier. I don't use much, so I just use Triple Sec, but if I were entertaining guests, I'd probably use Grand Marnier. Fresh lime, of course. |
