HDL, It is my opinion and many others that WP8 is superior to Word. The problem is that management has neither the vision, the talent, nor the cash to let the world know, especially when the term "Microsoft Family" is bandied about. Hence my pessimism toward major increases in the share price.
Quattro Pro, although excellent in its own right, is not quite as good as Excel. But version 9 comes closer, however Corel needs to add an equivalent feature for pivot tables. Quattro Pro could also use a dynamic name change to help boost its image. Paradox is superior to Access, although it has not been noted to be as easy to use.
A further complication to WP is that IBM has embedded Via Voice into Word Pro, which may give it an edge in sales over WordPerfect and Word if voice recognition is one's primary need.
In short, the only reason Corel cannot gain a 30% marketshare for Officeware is the psychological attachment to Microsoft. To overcome that barrier, Corel needs vision, talent, and cash.
Over and Out,
