An order of magnitude is a factor of ten. In scientific notation where they deal with huge numbers large the number of stars in the galaxy they break the number into a multiplier and ten raised to the order of magnitude, e.g. 1 x 10^6 is 1 million. So if something differs by two orders of magnitude it means 100x.

I forgot to ask what exactly they meant by an "order of magnitude" report but I assumed it meant rough estimate or ballpark figures.

I shouldn't have let Dave get to me but I don't like it when someone presumes to speak for someone else. Let's all speak for ourselves and I'll mind my manners from now on.
