Strategis Group? Now they are estimating revenue streams 10 years out for location-based services. That sounds hard to do, compared to estimating a month before the auction what the LMDS spectrum auction should bring. I believe their estimate immediately before the auction commenced was $4 billion. They missed that one pretty good. Maybe that is why they are shifting to 10 year forecasts now; at least the principals will be long gone before anyone can measure their accuracy.

Maybe they were unlucky with LMDS, but maybe their homework is not all that is necessary to make credible predictions. Who will ever notice the accuracy of a 10 year forecast? Where I work, we call that "prove me wrong" predicting; it's considered a kushy job. Low stress.
