They "pour salt in the wounds" cause they either (1) believe they can frighten some of us into selling our shares, or, (2) need to justify their extremely risky position. Actually, I think its more the former. And I feel sorry for those who sold thinking they were gonna be able to buy back at 90...or 40. Or for those who thought the AOL "party" was over. Problem is -- the major institutional shorts are probably not done with AOL...and thus we should continue to hear phrases like "sector rotation" and "the abandonment of high PE stocks." Indeed, the barometer for these institutional shorts is Ron Insana. Just listen to him for a couple days and you'll be able to figure out where some of the hedge funds are betting (a word I am choosing carefully) the market will go. That said, the simple fact of the matter is that in this market environment -- if you have a long term perspective -- AOL is one of the best, safest growth plays there is. I will be holding till AT LEAST 240. And you can hold me to this forecast.
