Well, of COURSE I read it!
You sound sad- which makes me think you aren't really excited about this second house.
People buy houses for such different reasons. Some for show, and some for investment, and some for the yard, and some for an emotional connection they might not even understand. I don't know what you need-- not in terms of square feet, or bathrooms, but in that thing that for you makes some place your home, your sanctuary.
I do know that you sound almost regretful..

Do you see possibility in it? To become what you want? Or can you afford the risk of waiting? IS there a reason you have to do this now?

In 1986, we were looking at houses out here in Southlake, thinking about leaving Dallas or going to private schools, and we looked at one that was "nice", but across the street was a white Victorian on a beautiful lot, with willow trees, and brick sidewalks and a Victorian lamppost and hanging plants along a huge front porch that had a little round area at the end with a ceiling fan and wicker furniture. I told Dan I couldn't live across from that house-- it was my dream house and I would be miserable. But a home like that was financially way out of reach for us. We stayed where we were and put the boys in private school.

In 1994, we knew we had to get out of Dallas- and fairly quickly- we decided to look at Southlake becuase of the school system, and we called an agent out here. She had several homes to show us and we came out, but we didn't really like any of them. On our way home, we found ourselves driving by the one we had looked at seven years before, and there, across the street, was my dream house-- For Sale. I made Dan stop, even though he was saying- "you KNOW we can't afford this"- and I ran up the driveway to the owner who was washing his car and he showed me the house- I knew it was MY HOUSE. It turned out that his contract was expired with the realtor and he was ready to move and so he dropped a lot off the price, and we were able to swing it- Dan did the legal work.

THe night we closed on the house and they moved out, we drove out and stood looking at it. It was March, chilly and very clear. Suddenly CW said, "Look up!" and there were several shooting stars, falling over our new home.

You have a lot of the dreamer in you (despite your being an attorney and so Aristotelian logical!) so I wondered-
