Dave,

You make some excellent points. The data exists to plot the graphs you suggest but I dread the thought of going through all the SEC filings compiling the data, adjusting it somehow for outstanding shares and/or percent particularly with the disclaimers noted. I've seen other references to studies which have concluded similar findings, i.e., insider selling is a poor indicator, while insider buying is a more "reliable" one. Other complications occur if you consider things like and insider has to exercise an option due to expire...pay capital gains on the value of the option at the time it was exercised...is forced to sell a substantial portion just to pay the capital gains....I have come to ignore nearly all insider selling...I haven't been able to find any general correlation and it doesn't seem that anyone else has either (that they can substantiate). I can recall a few instances over the last 20 years where an insider has dumped a true majority of their holdings but those cases to the best of my knowledge are very rare.

Best Regards,
Jim
