Falcon Northwest Reveals Details of New Talon System Powered by 3Dfx Interactive, Inc.
LOS ANGELES – May 11, 1999 – In advance of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Falcon Northwest Computer Systems released the first details of its hotly anticipated Talon™ series, a new line of PCs aimed at the budget conscious gamer. Available this summer, the Talon series is Falcon Northwest's first-ever line of pre-built systems, and is designed to deliver maximum performance in a sub-$2,000 (U.S.) package.
To address mounting demand for information on the new systems, Falcon Northwest announced that the Talon series will be driven by a special implementation of the acclaimed Voodoo3™ technology from 3dfx Interactive (NASDAQ: TDFX). Built directly onto the Talon motherboard, the 143MHz 3dfx graphics accelerator will feature 16MB of SDRAM memory and is expected to generate up to 6 million triangles and 286 Megatexels per second at resolutions of up to 2,046 by 1,536 pixels.
The highly integrated Talon series also will feature an Aureal Vortex 3D audio processor to match the system's visual realism with stunning audio clarity and depth. The result is a high-performance gamer's PC that, once ordered, will be delivered to action-hungry gamers in days instead of weeks.
“The early interest in Talon has been phenomenal, and it makes sense for us to give gamers a feel for what they can expect in this new series,” said Kelt Reeves, president of Falcon Northwest. “Talon will deliver a truly unique combination of world-class graphics, cutting-edge audio, and excellent expandability. And with the reliability and quality that comes with the 3dfx brand, we expect gamers to flock to Talon.”
“Falcon Northwest has long been a favorite of dedicated gamers who demand the absolute finest in high-impact game systems,” said Michael Howse, vice president of marketing for 3dfx. “We are delighted to work with Falcon Northwest to deliver a gaming system that fires on all cylinders at a budget-conscious price.”
