I will assure you it would not be petty gains. First of all, ten year anniversary of 1989 incident now looks outlandish and I doubt the students will muster up their spirit for another round of demonstration. Secondly, human rights violations related to recent arrests of dissidents before 6/4 will go conveniently noticed. Last but not least, this will become an important bargaining chip in future trade and WTO negotiations.

If Slob's release of POW was an A- I would give this one a B+. Strategically speaking.

Don't really agree with your last statement. If West pressed on the issue, it would be another cold war.

The stupid thing with this bombing is the reason is so inconceivable that you can not vocally and formally blame Chinese for not believing (even though deep down both side know it probably is a mistake).
