Mike: They are still bitching about DirecPC. Better, but you still get cut off if you download some large files. They do have a USB version now though that appears to be an easier setup. As for data rates, the ACTS sat has proven up to 155Mbps using Ka-band. The pipe is as big as one could want. Skybridge says 20Mbps for the consumer, 100 Mbps for business using the Ku-band. Current sats easily do 45Mbps if needed. AstraNet is probably a good real world example of a useful system. Quite speedy. SES is looking to partner with someone here for a similar system--Echostar is likely, and Loral would be a possible addition there too. They are a Ku-band uplink and KA-band down(38 Mbps?). Speed is not a problem.
