Darlene,

figured out how to put eight Pentium Pro microprocessors into a computer running Microsoft
Corp.'s (MSFT) Windows NT, executives said.
===================================================================

There are probably companies right here in the valley that could
stuff 64 Pentium Pro's into a box & run NT on it. That isn't going
to help MSFT crowbar its way into enterprise computing, however.

The more I hear about the antics going on up in Redmond, the more
it looks like a company run by 18-year olds: lots of bravado and
no ability. I just read a news brief stating that IT managers in
Fortune 100 companies are holding off on purchasing NT for depart-
mental applications support, that is: transaction processing
systems, on-line database systems, servers etal. Why aren't they
just jumping at the chance to buy into such a quality product???
Two main reasons: lack of power and Microsoft's inability to
support its product.

Tests have shown NT to scale poorly on systems with more than 4
processors. Gates goes around bragging about how it scales better
than Unix, but so what? Gates doesn't even know what the term
scalability means. He's just so happy to have learned a new word,
that he wants everyone to know that he can use big words too.

I think it's time for a public campaign to discredit the charlatans
from Redmond, so the public doesn't get totally duped.

cheers,

cherylw
