this statement strikes me of revisionist history.

Howard Jonas however, decided at that time that he wanted to be profitable first, and only after building a strong company, would he further expand the ISP and net2phone divisions.


when idtc purchased genie, they discussed competing with aol. clearly aol and its emphasis on the isp business was the correct move in hindsight. whether jonas decided to postpone expanding the isp until idtc became profitable, would be a new twist on the facts. genie was clearly in decline when idtc purchased the company, and the technology needed to be re-engineered.

idtc did not pursue the genie acquisition as they had envisioned up to this point, which finally appears to be changing.

i only responded this time because this is not the first time i have seen this new spin on the isp side of idtc. whether or not idtc missed an opportunity on the isp, would require speculation based on the fact genie had serious problems and whether idtc had the resources to bring it up to where it needed to be. clearly the isp side has gathered dust in the closet, but idtc now seems to be focusing resources on this treasure.

besides this statement, i find your post terrific. yes, you can criticize me for being petty:-)
