I agree, but I haven't quite figured out emusic's full strategy. I imagine that they might end up signing up new artists and promoting them at their site in exchange for a cut. They might concurrently offer programmed music (like NetRadio) and sell music in various formats (CD's and MP3). They might also become an American Bandstand type hub, where fans "vote with their mice" by clicking on the most popular songs. Then rankings could be compiled, thereby creating a truly democratic list of favorites. The possibilities are endless. I suspect (hope) that emusic is evaluating these issues.
