ATI's Notebook Business Continues To Grow, Doubles Market Share
ATI now third overall in mobile graphics market
TORONTO, May 12 /CNW-PRN/ - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) announced today that the latest graphics market study from Mercury Research(x) finds ATI is now the number three mobile graphics vendor overall. During the first quarter of 1999, ATI more than doubled its 1998 notebook market share (14.7% versus 7.3% in all of 1998).

Since ATI entered the mobile graphics market in 1997, an impressive roster of leading computer manufacturers have selected the ATI RAGE LT PRO mobile graphics accelerator, including Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu, NEC, Apple, Packard Bell-NEC, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, Micron, Siemens, Samsung, and AST Research.

''ATI made a commitment to offer the best notebook accelerators, and our momentum is swiftly driving ATI toward the top spot,'' said KY Ho, President and CEO, ATI Technologies Inc. ''With the RAGE LT PRO, and new RAGE Mobility family of mobile accelerators, ATI has an unmatched range of products that can meet all the price and performance requirements of the rapidly evolving mobile PC market.''

The ATI RAGE LT PRO was first introduced to the high-end notebook PC segment, setting the standard for 3D mobile graphics. It has subsequently migrated to a number of mid to value-range notebooks. The RAGE LT PRO features integrated LVDS for extended LCD support, TV output capability and fast 2D, 3D acceleration, combined with low power consumption.

Over the last few months, ATI has introduced the RAGE Mobility family of high performance, low power mobile graphics controllers. This product line includes models which integrate 4MB and 8MB of memory. Beyond memory integration, these products further reduce power and space requirement by integrating dual LVDS transmitters, full-function TV encoder and built-in hardware DVD. This new family of products is targeted for the mainstream, value, and thin/light segments of the notebook markets, and has just begun production shipments to OEM customers this month.
