Cascade Communications Corp.'s (NASDAQ:CSCC) IP Navigator, a carrier-class
switching solution for IP wide area networks, has won ComNet'97's "Best New Switching
Technology Product" award.

"We are very pleased and excited that IP Navigator has been named best in its field," said
Fred Sammartino, director of IP marketing at Cascade Communications Corp. "This award
signifies the industry's recognition of Cascade's unique approach to the evolution of
wide-area IP switching solutions." ComNet presents its "Best New Switching Technology
Product" awards for products making their debut at the show. Products are judged for
innovation, industry contribution, integration with current product lines, migration
capabilities, support provided and return on investment.

ComNet'97 marked the first demonstration of the IP Navigator product, which was
announced in December. IP Navigator, a software upgrade for Cascades entire product line,
combines the efficiency of wide area network (WAN) switching with the intelligence of IP
routing in a single platform. It provides an effective switching solution for scaling WANs and
delivers end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS).

IP Navigator is the only standards-based IP routing solution that meets the rigorous
requirements of carrier-class IP networks. Supporting up to 250,000 routes in its initial
release, IP Navigator delivers the technology necessary to scale service provider networks
to effectively address the growth in IP traffic.
