Washington Upchuck: The House bill, HR 775, is on the floor today, and should pass. The key question is how many Democrats vote for the bill......The White House has sent a letter to Congressional leadership expressing support for Y2K liability legislation with conditions (of course). So the Admin has now moved from "Hell no!" to "Uh Oh!" to "Let's go." In the end, they will no doubt claim that it was their idea (ggg).......Skirmish in the Senate continues behind closed doors. Industry, however, is putting on a huge push in support of the Dodd compromise. If the proponents can get cloture, S. 96, as amended, should draw in excess of 64 votes.....A lengthy Business Week article on the goings-on got nixed by the editors because "there was already too much tech in this issue".......WSJ is working on a "Where's Al?" article. Washington Post already ran theirs.......Back to arm twisting and vote buying....(ggg).
