The night we closed on the house and they moved out, we drove out and stood looking at it. It was March, chilly and very clear. Suddenly CW said, "Look up!" and there were several shooting stars, falling over our new home.

The night we closed on our house in west San Francisco, the fog rolled in magnificently, curls of vapor whisping through the cypress trees and eucalyptus, carried by the breeze that wafts up the hill from the ocean, a slightly pungent tinge in the air. The next morning, I went out to proudly survey my castle and found three sizable canine desecrations prominently displayed on my Kentucky Bluegrass.
