One cannot overemphasize the impact Intel's integrated 3D graphics technology (AGP) is going to have on their bottom line. Likewise, one cannot overemphasize the degree to which this particular advancement is being overlooked by not only the financial press but the technical press as well. Of course, they are still questioning Java but I will be the first to state that it is not an open question as to whether Java inherits the dominant position now held by Windows and C/C++ in software development. The software development community has already decided the question. The relevance of Java to 3D is that even these mega-trends can be overlooked by the media, the only doubt remaining is in the minds of these writers who haven't written one line of code or designed one circuit in their lives.

Intel will not just have the fastest and most reliable processors ready to install on state-of-the-art motherboards; they will extend that total dominance into the other core, non-optional components: local and remote communications and high speed computer graphics. Margins will increase as Intel plays one component against the next, perhaps lowering the cost of the processor and making that up and more on the 3D graphics sub-system. Hold on to your hats!
