CPU-biz enthusiasts,

Scumbria raises an interesting issue: "Do you think we will see $200 PCs this year?"

I will tell you where my head is:
Given AMD's efforts to move up the ASP chain, I have concluded that the PC prices will stay at current levels until there is a new aggressive player at the low end (actually, after initial stabilization, the prices could move up if AMD moves substantial amount of production to the mid-range or high-end -- taking the pressure off the low end cpu-prices and in the process ensuring that Intel would not see ASP drops in the near future -- a successful duopoly).
I am wondering if there are companies out there that would benefit from stability or slight uptick in PC prices. (distributors would seem like the choice but I am concerned about what Internet would do to that business)
Any comments? Thoughts?
