the fact remains that shrink wrap came out after record albums. at least to my thinking. so if it was the early 60's or the late 50's or whenever, there was a time when albums were sold without shrink wrap. and then, of course, your original question stands... what was your original question? <ggg>

how did they prevent people from removing the albums? right?

anyway, i've started a search for shrink wrap on web ferret. more hits than i can believe. a preliminary perusal took me to some shrink wrap copyright legislation sites, but i'm chewing up too much time when i have other things i need to do right now. i'd like to get back to the subject, though, and determine for certain just when shrink wrap started being used.

shouldn't be too hard.
