SAM looks like a good company to me and seems reasonably priced. My 2 main worries about it are (1) beer consumption is not rising in USA and (2) the barriers to entry are so low in this industry that the best quality stuff is home-brewed. I walked into a small store in a strip mall in Davis, California in January started by a guy with a bachelors degree in fermentation. It was a U-Brew-It type outfit. Some guys there were busy bottling some stuff they had just made and gave me a taste. It was Out-Of-This-World! It's cheaper than mass produced store bought stuff and is totally customized to your own recipe which you can select from a big book they have in the store. You can even bring in a floppy disk with your artwork and they will print out labels for you. I'm not sure it will ever sell to Joe Six-Pack but this has got to be the wave of the future as far as quality beer is concerned.

Of course, for convenience, I'll take a Boston Beer anytime. They have great alliances and distribution agreements tied up. But I still worry about the two factors previously mentioned.

Any thoughts would be most welcome.
