Oh, those pesky retail investors!
In the current issue of Fortune magazine (May 24, p. 318, pathfinder.com, Jerry Useem writes about how most companies blow off "amateur online traders." He quotes Tabitha Zane, head of IR at Applied Cellular Technology, as saying: "If I never see another retail investor, I'll be happy." I am quoted in the article as a rare IR officer who provides information on Internet message boards.
If you are lurking, Ms. Zane, please feel free to send those pesky retail investors to this message board. At Gene Logic, we love individual investors. Our share price has been moving steadily up over the last few days--to $5 today--on low volume, with no block trades. It's certainly not large institutions having that effect on the stock.
