Here's a prediction: 10 years from now, phone lines will be being ripped up all over the world, because the copper will be worth something (Intel will be buying it by the container-load for their chips). Satellite will kill wireless, and cable will kill phone lines. And something noone is now talking about will be threatening to kill cable. Maybe a flexible, cheap, and easy to install fiber-optic cable.
