Z, I am hanging in there with Lukoil. The crash today was due to Primakov getting sacked. Lukoil is in the process of acquiring a smaller Russian oil company that produces something like 100 mbpd, supposedly their stock has a market cap of only $50 million. The chance for companies like Lukoil to buy cheap Russian assets will only last so long. I hope there are more acquisitions in the future.
--Ultimately the goal of the sacking of Primakov is to get back to a more reformist government. That goal is actually good for Russia. Clinton has already said that he thinks Russia will stick to reforms. So, my attitude is that it really does not matter longer term and may actually end up reducing a lot of the political uncertainty in the future.
