HN, I wont pretend to understand the implications of this acquisitoin. From the the Smart website: smartdna.com Here's my stab at it. <g> Looks like i2 is making an attempt to portal E-BPO, that is have it present like the GIU on you browser. Only it would be more robust than your traditional web browser of course. You request information on the company's intranet on shipping, manufacturing etc whatever you need. Take it a step beyond you could go extra-enterprise and check a supplier or customer's status on projects.. you name, the applications are many. As for price i2 had stated they were out to make some acquisitions this year. Many of these deal seemed overprice but it's what the market can bear. This is the part where I've got to trust management on and their greater vested interest in i2, that this is a good fit for them. ----------- The Gartner group's magic quadrant for spring 99 is out, and i2 has pulled away from the pack.
