Reginald. Ain't that somethin'. Look here:
Here's some text from this article:
>>for CIOs
Microsoft finally has the pieces to provide a total solution from desktop to mainframe. Over time, Microsoft hopes to "surround" mainframes and minicomputers with NT servers running e-mail programs, data warehouses, and other applications. Then one day--when the hassle of maintaining two platforms becomes too much--Microsoft hopes you'll unplug the host and replace it with a multiprocessor NT box running Windows NT 5.0, or possibly the 64-bit version of NT, which is due in 1999. << ********************************************************************* Now here's an excerpt from my post last night from the seminar I went to:
>> Paul, I would like to add to this very relevant post (at least to me as tonight I just got back from a 4 hour seminar at a Microsoft regional office here in NJ).
It was an INTRANET SOULUTIONS SEMINAR. I wanted to go for a couple of reasons. 1) To get a free CD with IIS, Front Page, VB5, and a whole ton of other stuff <g>, and 2) To "check out" the competition again (hadn't done this in awhile).
Lemme tell ya'. They are "slicker" than ever. They played to a packed house (with pizza at the break), and the "mantra" was "the total package, the total package...". NOT so much for the client, but MAN,the SERVER. THEY WANT THAT LOCK, STOCK, and BARRELL. NTS, SQL SERVER, IIS, FRONT PAGE, OUTLOOK (That's the new groupware push), EXHANGE, VB5, ACTIVE X CONTROLS, etc... and if they said "EVERYTHING RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!" one more time (musta' said it 100 times), I was gonna puke. They TRASHED NETWARE, and they had the audience (Mostly VARS and Resellers) mesmerized.
SO, I Think this append to this particular post, is appropo to your post.
NOVELL MARKETING --- YOU ARE IN DEEP S*IT! YOU HAVE A VERY, TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW. I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE UP TO IT. WOULD ANY NOVELL REPS LIKE TO COMMENT ON WHAT I SAW AND HEARD TONIGHT? AND, ARE YOU UP TO FIGHTING THIS?
This is not a lame post, or a post to incite. I am just telling it as it is. Like Paul said, THIS IS THE REAL WORLD! Believe me, I was there tonight. Is Novell going to have a similar seminar in the NY, NJ area? I would like to compare? I am serious Novell marketing, is there? I will go, I assure you. <<

Now Reginald, I didn't even know about that article you referenced.
Gee Whiz, you would think these brainy folk at Novell would have all this stuff figured out now, wouldn't you? Heck, if *I* can figure it out (and golly, I'm no high-powered salesman, type <g>), you would think they'd have a clue, wouldn't you?
Wrong!
