Because we're really not wound that way, James. You know it, and I know it. That's why we have a holocaust museum here in DC even though few American Jews died in Nazi Germany.
If we ignore what occurs in the rest of the world, permitting despots and dictators to gain ground, soon we will find ourselves threatened and literally on the ropes.
The methods may not always be prudent, and sometimes corruption may find its influence in our policy, but in our hearts, we realize that we'll only be safe in this world when everyone has the same respect for the rights of the individual as were provided for us in our constitution.
