First I want to make it clear: Tian AnMen Square incidence was China's domestic affair, and it has nothing to do with any other nations' business.

After said that, it was a very idiotic mistake just to order the tanks into Beijing (Deng's order). The gov. should just use some tear gas, etc., which would be enough to solve the problem. The gov. already learned its lessons from this, and I am sure this type of thing will not happen again. But even though using tanks was wrong and unnecessary, the decision to stop the chaos was right, and it was in the nation's and every single Chinese people's interest. Because the first priority for China was to prevent chaos. This is the lesson China has learned throughout its thousands of years of history. Western countries just want to see China in chaos, and that is exactly Chinese are afraid of the most. China will do anything to prevent that from happening.

About North Korea: first I want to say that it is completely ignorant to blame China for North Korea's current mess. Ever since 1978, the relationship between China and North Korea was no better than the relationship between China and the US, if not worse. Because the leaders of the two nations have totally opposite opinions about the economic reform. And North Korea had said something very harsh about China's open-door policy, like "surrender to the US imperialist", etc. And China has stopped giving North Korea aids since then, only resumed until before this famine.

China is always against the terrorist activities North Korea used against South Korea. I think that was in 1976 (?) that North Korea placed a bomb in Thailand or Malysia, I don't remember exactly, killed quite a few high ranking South Korean officials. China really condemned this action and after that two countries had a very cold relationship. Not to mention at least several high ranking North Korea Generals, who tried to kill the elder Kim, unsuccesfully, have come to China to ask for political asylem. And when North Korea asked China to send them back, China refused. And about the nuclear technology transfer to North Korea, it is completely the US paranoid imagination. Why Chinese gov. will give this kind of maniacs nuclear weapon? It may one day will be used against Chinese themselves.

There is one major difference bet. China and the US. If the US does not like a neighboring gov., it will just play some dirty tricks to overthrow that gov., and put somebody the US wants as the head of the nation. There are so many examples in Latin America. But China has never interfered other countries' business. It may express opinion, but never do anything physical. So even if China does not like Kim, it will not try to overthrow him. That is why I think the US is "imperialism", and China is not.
