Oh yes, absolutely always look at fundamentals. They are not always built into the stock price or chart. People trade outside of fundamentals and it can surprise you badly if you don't have the whole picture.

Technicals do give you a market direction but the fundamentals give you the health of the stock. Knowing the health of the stock gives you insight to its long term possibilities that the technicals may not.

I've seen technically good charts turn around quickly and tank with no explanation - until you looked at the fundamentals. I've seen the other way around too.

You can trade on just technicals but I wouldn't personally ever go long a stock (long being a true investment) without knowing the health of the stock. Healthier stocks can weather market corrections better and usually are the first to come back.

So for trades, you can use just technicals (but I will say I've seen a better percentage in trades (overal) using strong fundamentally sound stocks as opposed to those that weren't), setting stops and price objectives. For long term I'd never be remiss in the fundamentals.
