Compaq faces storm over VMS VS10 pricing

Sources perilously close to Compaq's plans said that when its VMSstation is announced in June, an entry level box will cost well over $7,000.

The VS10 has been long awaited by a set of corporate users who need and use the VMS operating system, but none expected this type of price from Compaq.

And users are also well up in arms over the pricing of the DS 10. If corporations buy the entry level box with OVMS, rather than Compaq's Tru64 Unix, it costs them an extra one thousand bucks… ®
