I see. It's an objection if his lie fails. So was he counting on getting caught?

By the way, according to Webster's "sic" is an adverb meaning "thus," and is "added in brackets after a word or expression in a quotation which looks wrong or absurd, to show that it has been quoted correctly."

Just thought you'd like to know.
