Of course I don't "try to misunderstand" you. It's simply that you stated that his lie was meant as an objection, and when I countered with the statement that if his lie had succeeded it would have been a non-event, and therefore not an objection. Then you stated that the second option was that his lie fails, in which case he gets to argue his objection. Since a successful lie clearly can't function as an objection, then that means that the only way it could be an objection would be if it failed. Therefore, if he truly intended it as an objection then he must have been counting on getting caught.

Personally, I don't know whether he intended to get caught or not. If so, I think it would have less to do with publicizing an objection and more to do with psychopathy. I was just pointing out that your premise that his lie was an objection hinged on him getting caught, since, as you and I have both stated, a successful lie would have had no effect either way. Although a successful lie would have saved his butt, which is what I do think his goal was all along.
