$200 million in new electronic commerce

WALTHAM, Mass. (Dow Jones)--Lycos Inc. (LCOS) expects to post
third-quarter
earnings per share in line with consensus analyst estimates when it
reports
results May 18.
In a press release Thursday, the Internet portal company also said it
signed
$200 million in new electronic commerce agreements during its third
fiscal
quarter ended April 30, the highest for any quarter in the company's
history.
Lycos said it surpassed Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) to become the leading
Internet
portal with 51.8% audience reach and nearly 32 million unique monthly
visitors, according to the latest Media Metrix report.
"There is no question that our single-minded focus on delivering the
best
interactive products to our users across our multiple leading brands is
the
cornerstone of our achievements," President and CEO Bob Davis said via
the
press release. "Our many new strategic commerce agreements, recent move
to
the top of our industry in audience reach and progress in growing our
team
this quarter prove that our business is stronger than ever and we are
poised
for tremendous growth."
