Kosovo; Serb or Albanian, it matters little. We are all children of the same God.
Today, we are rich and healthy and secure. The refugees are the poorest of the poor. Driven from their homeland, many of them are orphaned or widowed, destitute and at the mercy of events far beyond their control. Today, it is of no importance if this is a just war. A bowl of food or a warm blanket or an antibiotic is what is important. Wars are seldom fought without intense logistical planning. Refugees just happen, or so it would seem. The UN notes their arrival and deplores their condition but no one has planned for them and the supplies are not there to care for them. There is much time to debate whether this war is just or whether America should be involved. Standing in the dust or the mud and filth of a refugee camp, today or tomorrow is an eternity; an eternity with an empty belly, or a festering wound, or no shelter.
It is a good and a humanitarian act to have mercy on the poor. These are the poorest of the poor.
