DougHboy, Sorry. I didn't mean to imply I disagreed with what you wrote. I meant to say I just see the CSCO/TLAB situation in a different light.
I'm saying there is a billion dollar positioning dance shaking out and it's going to be very hard to figure out where these two guys will end up five years out, relative to each other.
Currently I picture both on opposite sides of, "The Network," and both moving towards each other. Both, IMHO, have top notch management. Both do very well with their vision of the future AND positioning of their companies in that vision.
But if I really had to choose about which vision has more uncertainties, I would reluctantly have to say Tellabs. Tellabs has a big hole to fill (and I'm certain they will) in the data world. Whereas Cisco is attempting to position themselves for the carrier market while, coincidently, the carrier market is moving towards Cisco.
But at this time, like you, I like them both! MikeM(From Florida)
PS Doug, check out the growth figures and run rates for CSCO's broadband (both DSL and Cable) products that I posted on the last mile thread. They were eye opening! They may help you with the CSCO valuations<G>. |
