SGI & Apple made sense 4 years ago. Not anymore. The idea of the consumer end of the media world (Mac) meeting the high end media world (SGI Unix) was very appealing.

At this point, SGI redefined its future around Intel and WinNT (no matter what the PR says) and that is not where Apple wants to go. Apple doesn't need a Unix anymore (they have BSD&Mach).

There could be an aliance, if SGI wanted to design a video subsystem for the G4 (they did a great job on their NT machines, in terms of performance), but I don't think SGI has the bandwidth now.

When Apple started diving, they went from 11B in revenues to 6B. SGI is still falling, and they started where? 5B? Now they are at 2.5B and they still may fall further.
