1. Jeff Kessler's (Lehman Brother's) estimate of 40 cents for 1998 absolutely, positively does not include Oracle revenues or the Japan contract. See my reply #278 for quotes from the actual First Call analyst note.
2. IDX,s failure to meet earnings last year were due to:
ú DBII patent suit
ú acquisition of Innovative archival solutions
ú acquisition of Fingermatrix
Would you rather have had them make 11 cents or establish the strategic alliances they made last year?
3. You are correct about the D&D assumption of $1000 per unit in 1995, but don't you also think that Oracle's customer base has grown since then and that the customer base penetration should be improve at the lower price? Customers can now but twice as many Touchprints for the same price. The best thing that can happen for IDX is to have their scanners on all machines at a site rather than just a few because of the cost. The more exposure the public gets to finger scanners, the better the acceptance for other applications. I estimate (hope) that the price halves in two more years so I can buy one!
4. You are correct about revenue possibly being spread out over several years. I also stated this possibility in my prior post. We all hope that this is more than a one time event. Everyday you read a story in the newspaper or see a story on the news that someone has broken into a database and erased files or stolen a list of HIV positive people or campaign contributors or employee salaries the 1% penetration looks smaller and smaller.
5. According to Porsche770 on AOL Motley Fool, who toured the facility this spring and met with management - IDX will have no problem meeting orders.
I have made this prediction in the past and will make again - once Oracle releases software and announces who the customers are you won't be able to touch this stock for less than $15.
