Teflon, You are not alone in your sentiment about MSFT. In June they will release Office 2000. Windows NT 2000 is released in the fall. Either one of these products has gorilla like implications in the marketplace. They continue to position themselves to participate significantly on the net irregardless of what happens with broadband.

All of the broadband discussion,as well as the court case, disguise the fact that they are entering what will probably prove to be the greatest earnings cycle in their history.(ie: Office 2000,Win2000)

As computer prices drop the market really opens up for the PC. One thing clear as we hear PC growth rates is that any thought that the PC is dying is wrong. An obvious beneficiary of lower hardware prices is MSFT.

As Asian economies recover watch how quickly they reinvest in their technology infrastructure. Once again a major beneficiary is MSFT. This should begin to show up in the regional revenue splits this quarter.

I agree with you that MSFT is the classic silverback gorilla. With technological innovation moving at such a rapid pace, it's easy to forget how dramatically MSFT is affecting the server and database markets with NT. This is about to get a tremendous boost as servers adopt Win2000 and Xeon and Merced architectures. The next couple of years are going to deliver substantial rates of return.
