Jill, the internet is at the heart of why Dell is profitable, and it isn't gigabuys.com that's driving it. It is the ability to move large amounts of inventory in short periods of time without human intervention. It is the ability to precisely coordinate drop shipping with Sony, and the ability to get parts on a JIT basis. The failure of companies like Compaq, HP and IBM to emulate Dell is what has mad Dell preeminent in the PC niche. It is the same thing that Cisco has done in their niche.
