I took my profits too, but only because I was shaken out in the last dip.

But as far as a SOFC in a car, it's no 'bomb'. The high temperatures do not translate into a large amount of heat because the ceramic layers are thin and light. The specific heat of such a fuel cell is not very high. Think of a thin wire in a candle flame - it glows white hot (much hotter than a SOFC), but it cools off almost instantly when removed from the flame.

Remember, the total AMOUNT of heat generated by a 100 HP fuel cell stack is LESS (by about 1/3) than the amount of heat generated by a 100 HP piston engine.
