| ThermaCell Shipping 'Essential Stones' for Evaluation By Fragrance, Personal Care & Consumer Products Companies
SARASOTA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 1999--ThermaCell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: VCLL - news, VCLLW - news) announced it has begun to ship samples of its new Essential Stones(SM) VaxCell(TM) microsphere fragrance/filtering technology for evaluation by a growing number of fragrance, personal care, and consumer products companies.

John Pidorenko, Chairman, President and CEO, said the Company has shipped samples to privately held Noville, Inc., the Bath & Body Works unit of Intimate Brands, Inc. (NYSE: IBI - news), and Tupperware Corporation (NYSE: TUP - news), among others. Noville (http://www.noville.com) is a global full service supplier of quality fragrances and flavors for use in the personal care, household, environmental and oral care product industries. Intimate Brands (http://www.intimatebrands.com) is the leading specialty retailer of intimate apparel, beauty and personal care products through Victoria's Secret's 849 stores, catalog and web site, and 1,101 Bath & Body Works stores. Tupperware (http://www.tupperware.com) is a worldwide direct selling consumer products company engaged in the manufacture and sale of products such as food storage containers which preserve freshness through the well-known Tupperware seals.

Mr. Pidorenko also announced that the Company has successfully tested full scale manufacturing of Essential Stones at its pilot VaxCell production facility, which will be replaced this fall with a substantially larger facility able to produce 10 million pounds of VaxCells and generate $30-$60 million in revenue. In addition, Mr. Pidorenko announced Essential Stones will be sold via the Company's innovative paint-n-stuff.com web site as it expands into industrial products.

Essential Stones were developed earlier this year as a byproduct of ThermaCell's stepped up production and R&D of its VaxCell microspheres, a key ingredient in the Company's insulation-enhanced line of paints and coatings. VaxCells are microscopically small, evacuated spheres of glass. Mixed in paints and coatings, they form a barrier that prevents the exchange of temperature. Fused together to form Essential Stones, the resultant clusters develop capillary-like vents that absorb fragrance oils for aromatic applications or other liquids and gasses for filtration applications.

Mr. Pidorenko said that the growing number of applications for Essential Stones open up more than $5 billion in new markets, significantly enhancing the value of ThermaCell's proprietary technology. Applications include vector for fragrance delivery, essential oil aromatherapy, and to capture volatiles; odor masking and pest deterrent; liquid and gas filtration; oil, water, other liquid, and gas combination and mixture separations; thermal and acoustical insulation; combustible containment; wick substitutes; and buoyancy.

ThermaCell Technologies, Inc. (http://www.thermacell.com) is a technologically enhanced manufacturer and marketer of paints, coatings and building materials. The Company manufactures conventional paints, coatings and building materials through traditional trade and retail venues. The Company also manufactures VaxCell microspheres, which provide greater insulation, protection, strength, longevity and value in paints, coatings and building materials. The Company's www.paint-n-stuff.com web site is one of the first e-commerce paint stores on the Internet.
